Train tracks that run along some abandoned buildings in Jackson, MI.
Taken in color, converted to grayscale and adjusted levels with picasa2.
It's a really interesting perspective. I'd like to see a sepia toned version actually, I think it might look interesting.
I love how the further along the photo, the more highlights there are- it gives it a nice focus and draws the eye along. The powerlines and the building assists in the composition also.
I don't really have anything bad to say about it. I like the subject- old buildings are among some of my favourite things. But as much as i like the greyscale, it might need a tad more colour- even if only slightly adjusted [too much would ruin it in my opinion.]
I was actually playing around with some different effects, but decided to do as little modification as possible. I don't like to do a lot of editing to my photographs, as I'm trying to become a better photographer, not manipulator.
I really, really appreciate the feedback though, and I am glad that you enjoyed the exposure. I've been reading a lot about photography in order to improve mine, and your comments seem to confirm that I am heading in the right direction. Thanks again.
There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
